The Routes functionality allows you to set waypoints to create routes and assign assets to those routes. This user guide provides the necessary information needed in order to use the Routes feature in the Fleet Management Application.

This user guide provides the necessary information needed in order to use the Routes feature in the Fleet Management Application. This guide goes over the Routes, Planned vs Actual Route Report, Route Summary, Unmatched Route, and Import Routes. To use this feature, navigate to the main menu > Productivity > Basic Routing.
The Routes feature is available in the Fleet Management Application with some features accessible and others only accessible with Feature Preview enabled. To enable Feature Preview, navigate to User options > Feature Preview, then enable the Route page toggle.
✱ NOTE: The functionality in Feature Preview are Beta versions.
To view Routes in Feature Preview, refer to the Routes (Feature Preview) section. To view Routes with Feature Preview disabled, refer to the following Routes section.
The Routes functionality allows you to set waypoints to create routes and assign assets to those routes.
From the main menu navigate to Productivity > Basic Routing > Routes.
Routes are created by connecting a sequence of zones together to form a path. These sequences are completely customizable, and waypoints can be added in any order.
1 | From the Routes landing page, select Add route. |
2 | Using the Map, zoom in to the desired location, or enter a Zone name. |
3 | Add a waypoint by clicking locations on the Map. |
4 | Continue adding waypoints for your desired route. |
5 | Select Save route. |
6 | On the Route Edit page, rename your route using the Description field and add any necessary comments. |
7 | View the Zones organizer for directions and stops in the route. |
8 | Select Optimize to get the most efficient route possible. |
9 | Select Save. The route is created and is Unplanned. |
1 | From the Routes landing page, search for your route using the search bar or locate the route in the table, then click the route name. |
2 | On the Route Edit page, edit any necessary information. |
3 | Select Save. |

2 | Select Edit, then from the Route Edit page, select Remove. A popup dialog is displayed. |
3 | To permanently delete your route, select Remove. |
A Planned route is one that is assigned to an Asset for a particular date.
1 | Navigate to the main menu > Productivity > Basic Routing > Routes. |
2 | From the Routes landing page, enter the route name using the search field or locate the route in the table. |
3 | Click the route name. |
4 | From the Route Edit page, click the Create plan button. |
5 | Select an asset using the Vehicle dropdown. |
6 | Select a Start date using the calendar. Then click Done. |
7 | View the routes under the Zones organizer section. Adjust route times, the distance, the time taken to reach the location, and time spent at the location. You can also select Optimize to get the most efficient route possible. |
8 | Click Save. |

2 | Enable the Route type to Planned. |
3 | Select your Asset. |
4 | Update the Date Period to align with your route plan date. |
5 | Click the Apply changes button. The Planned route and relevant details display. |
Follow steps 1 through 5 of the Viewing a planned route section, then search for your route using the search bar or locate the route in the table, click the route name.
On the Route Edit page, make the necessary edits, then click Save.
! IMPORTANT: In order to dispatch routes and send messages specific to the route stops, you need a Planned route. If you click Send to vehicle for an unplanned route, you must select an asset from the Messages page first.

2 | From the Route Edit page, click the Send to vehicle button. |
3 | From the Messages page, the assigned Asset and previous message history display, as well as the route. ✱NOTE: To change the assigned asset or user, click on Back to asset selection and choose another recipient from the list of available assets or users. |
4 | To add a message for one or more stops, click on the route plan to expand it, and update accordingly. ✱ NOTE: You can select Remove existing stops if you wish to remove the existing list of stops from your recipient’s device. |
5 | Click Send. The messages are delivered to the asset or user and can be viewed using the Drive App. |
The Routes functionality allows you to set waypoints to create routes and assign assets to those routes.
From the main menu navigate to Productivity > Basic Routing > Routes. The Routes table displays the Name of the routes created, the Assigned Asset, Scheduled Start Time, and Status.
1 | From the Routes landing page, click the Add route button. |
2 | Complete the necessary fields under the Route Details section. The fields are:
✱NOTE: See Creating a planned route to add a new planned route. |
3 | Add a waypoint by using the Map feature or entering a Zone or address under the Route Stops section.
✱ NOTE: Select the Start location toggle to lock the start location of the route, and click Add comment to add any comments. |
4 | Add another way point by clicking the Add new stop button and entering a Zone or address, or add the waypoint on the Map. |
5 | Continue to add as many waypoints necessary for your route. You can switch the order of waypoints by clicking and dragging the stop card. ✱ NOTE: To remove a waypoint from your route, click the Remove icon next to the Zone or address field. |
6 | Once you have completed your route, select the End location toggle to lock the end location of the route. You can click the Optimize route button to get the most efficient route possible. |
7 | Once your route has been optimized, click Save. The Route page displays with all the finalized details. |
8 | From the Route page, you have the following options:

1 | From the Routes page, click the Edit button. Or from the Routes landing page, search for your route using the search bar or locate the route in the table. Click the route name, then click Edit. ✱NOTE: To view and edit a Planned route, follow the Editing a planned route section. |
2 | On the Route Edit page, edit any necessary information under the Route Details section or the Route Stops section, or edit waypoints directly on the Map. ✱ NOTE: For information on how to assign a route to an asset, see the Creating a planned route section. For information on how to unassign an asset from a particular route, see the Unassigning an asset section. |
3 | Once you are done editing your route, click Save. |

From the Route page, click Edit or the Duplicate button (optional). ✱ NOTE: When you have a route created, you can use the Duplicate button to duplicate the route for various assets. From the Route Edit page, edit the duplicated route however necessary. |
3 | From the Route Edit page, select the Planned toggle. |
4 | Complete the necessary fields that display under the Route Details section.

✱ NOTE: Adjusting the Duration impacts the Arrival window time automatically. Once you have completed your route, and defined Start and End waypoints, select the Start location toggle to lock the start location of the route, and select the End location toggle to lock the end location of the route. Click Add comment to add any comments. Click the Optimize route button to get the most efficient route possible (optional). |
8 | Click Save. The Route page displays an overview of the details and stops. |

You can compare your Planned routes and your vehicles’ real-world activity using the Planned vs. Actual Route Report feature. This tool makes it easy to see the deviation between routes and trips and to identify potential areas for improvement within your fleet.
This report outlines any stops missed by drivers and how much time it was missed by, if a driver was early or late to a stop. To access the report, navigate to Productivity > Basic Routing > Planned vs Actual Route Report.
1 | Select an asset from the Search assets… dropdown. |
2 | The report automatically defaults to the current day. To view archived data, select the appropriate date range in the Options menu. The Arrival Window is customizable and gives drivers more flexibility to arrive at their stop without being penalized. |
3 | The report displays your planned routes and trips by day, time of the stop, and asset. The report indicates whether a driver is late or misses their stop, the expected duration of the stop, and the distance. ✱ NOTE: Any stop outside a zone will be labeled as an Unexpected stop. |
4 | Select the Map pin icon to view a comparison of the planned route alongside the actual route the asset took. |
5 | Select the Information icon to view the stop details including the zone name, the actual and planned arrival times, the actual and planned stop duration, the actual driving distance and duration, and the planned driving distance and duration. If the stop was unplanned, it will simply show the actual arrival time and stop duration. |
6 | Download a PDF or Microsoft Excel file of your report by clicking the Report dropdown, then selecting your desired file type. |
This report finds assets that are driving on or near routes based on data from your Telematics Device. This feature is useful for using historical data to determine whether multiple assets are driving on the same routes, or if routes could be modified for optimization. To access this report, navigate to Productivity > Basic Routing > Route Summary.
1 | Click the Options dropdown and adjust the Date Period and necessary Display Options.
✱ NOTE: If the report is viewed by Asset, each asset displays with the names of routes it closely matches listed. If the report is viewed by Route, each route displays with the name of assets that drive similar patterns listed. |
2 | Click the Apply changes button. |
3 | Download a PDF or Microsoft Excel file of your report by clicking the Report dropdown, then selecting your desired file type. |
This feature allows you to track how much driving each asset does that is not part of a Planned route. To access this feature, navigate to Productivity > Basic Routing > Unmatched Route.
1 | Click the Options dropdown and adjust the Date Period and necessary Display Options.

2 | Click the Apply changes button. The report displays each selected asset with one entry per day in the date range, the Group, Time, and with the total distance driven off route. ✱ NOTE: If the asset did not drive off route for any given day in the date range, the date will still be listed but the distance driven will be zero. |
This feature allows you to import multiple routes at a time. To access this feature, navigate to Productivity > Basic Routing > Import Routes.
1 | Using the template example, create a spreadsheet with the route information to import into the application. |
2 | Drag and drop the spreadsheet file into the provided box, or click to browse files. |
3 | The application displays a count for valid and invalid routes in the uploaded spreadsheet. Click Invalid routes to view the routes with missing or incorrect information. ✱ NOTE: Errors are listed in red text. |
4 | Click the Import icon on the Valid routes to import the routes into the application. ✔ SUCCESS: A notification banner displaying the number of routes that were successfully imported. |
The Routes tab in the Drive App allows drivers to efficiently manage their assigned routes, and view any changes made to the routes in the Fleet Management Application. The route-related information in the Drive App is synced with any changes made in the Fleet Management Application.
1 | Log in to the Drive App using your login credentials. |
2 | Enter your asset’s Name, VIN, or serial number. |
3 | Click Save and continue. |
4 | Select Routes from your Dashboard. |
5 | To view the current stops, view the route details from the Stops tab.
✱ NOTE: Use these details to view the status of each stop as well. |
6 | You can change the layout of the route details and choose a detail view, list view, and the exact schedule for each stop. |
7 | Select the Map View dropdown to view the stops on the Map. |
8 | From the Summary tab, view the overall performance of the route in real time. |
